Transformation of the Day: Zenobia lost 55 pounds. This PhD Psychology student struggled with her weight after she stopped running track in college. Through a troubled marriage and clinical depression, food was her comfort, which led to more weight gain. She decided to take action by changing her eating habits and re-discovering a love for fitness.
What was your motivation?
I’ve struggled with my weight since I stopped running collegiate track. I turned to food to comfort me through a damaging first marriage and other life challenges that left me severely clinically depressed. I’ve tried just about every diet or shake in my quest to become healthier. These extreme diets caused my weight to yoyo throughout the years.
It was not until February of 2016 that I decided to change my life for GOOD! I developed a nutrition regime and workout plan that has changed my eating habits and my relationship with food. I’ve lost a total of 55 pounds NATURALLY.
How did you change your eating habits?
I initially changed my eating habits by eliminating fast food and sodas altogether. I practice flexible eating with portion control. I follow a high protein eating regime that helps fuel my workouts and allows me to develop lean muscle.
What is your workout routine?
I do cardio 5-6 days a week and I lift weights 3-4 times a week. As a former athlete, I believe that both are integral to the overall conditioning of the body. I try to workout 5-6 days a week total.
Starting weight/Current weight
My stating weight was 220 pounds at 5’2″. My current weight is 165 pounds. I don’t have a goal weight per say. I’m just letting my body find its happy place on its own while I assist it in a healthier direction.
What advice would you share with other people who want to release the weight?
My advice to others who want to lose weight is to never give up and don’t compare your journey to others. Social media makes it easier for us to see what someone else has achieved while ignoring ourselves. Make better choices and try to sweat as much as possible. The weight will eventually fall off!
Along my journey, I wanted to help others who struggle like me. Now, I’m a personal trainer and I’ve developed a program called Pretty Fit! Thanks for reading my story!
