Transformation of the Day: Yulonda lost 60 pounds. She stopped quitting on herself, found the support system she needed and took action. No more low self-esteem or pity parties. She changed her relationship with food, used at-home workout programs and stopped waiting to be her best self. Check out her journey.
I use to have low self-esteem and was never really confident in my skin. I have quit on myself so many times that I stopped counting. I realized that the only person who can help me is me. I can find a million excuses as to why I can’t or why I shouldn’t, but the only person I was hurting was me.
I had to dig deep, and go to a place within myself where I didn’t want to go. I had to face the ugly truth, that my health and my body was deteriorating because of what I was doing to it. No one else… just me alone. I stopped having a pity party. I started living and seeing things for the better. I took action and I never looked back.
I realized that I had a bad relationship with food. I had to change the foods I was eating and gain a better understanding of what foods could help me regain my health and get back on track. I stopped eating processed foods. I cut completely out anything that had a life shelf. I incorporated more whole foods, including veggies of all kinds. I limited fruit to only 3 servings a day due to the sugar content. I also stay away from meat. Here’s an example of what I eat:
- My breakfast: Kale, bell peppers and eggs.
- My lunch: Baked fish, spinach and black beans
- My dinner: Veggies with a whole wheat tortilla – Bell peppers, spinach, red onions, mushrooms and a little salsa
- I drink Chocolate Shakeology, which is my favorite Superfood, It helps with fighting sugar cravings, keeps me fuller longer, helps with shredding belly fat.
Your body is your blueprint and every single thing you put in your mouth will show on your blueprint. I carefully take a look at my body, and then I study my unhealthy habits to find ways to better those habits. For me, healthy is not defined by the scale. It is defined by what goes into my body, My body is a complete, functional system and I want it to run like it is supposed to.
I workout 5 times a week. I do cardio, Plyo, yoga and strength training. I’m also walking and running. I rotate these forms of exercise with Beachbody programs created by Shawn T and Autumn Calabrese.
When I started my journey in 2014 I weighed 250 pounds. I kept being persistent and ended the cycle of quitting. Now, I weigh 190 pounds and I’m still going strong.
Was it hard? Heck yeah, but I stopped waiting on myself because I wanted more. Actions always speak louder than words. No matter where you are in life, your actions will take you further on your journey as long as you believe, have determination, strive and never give up.
When I started this journey, I realized that I couldn’t do this alone. I knew that I needed a support system. I needed someone who believed in me, and someone who would push me when I couldn’t go any further. I needed an accountability partner, someone who wasn’t going to sugar coat what I was doing to myself. Everything I needed was in a Challenge Group. I learned how to live again and how to face my fears. That was the start of me creating the healthy lifestyle I craved so much. When I became a Coach, I realized there are so many women who need support, guidance, and encouragement to stay dedicated and committed. Together we are an unstoppable Force!
Success won’t happen overnight but it will happen. All you need to do is believe in yourself and surround yourself with people who want to see you succeed and prosper. Believe you can and you’re halfway there. Trust the process and take your time. This journey is a marathon. It will take sheer determination and hard work.
My advice: Take your time! Instant gratification will kill your dreams. Remember, everything you’re doing right now will help your body achieve the goals you have set. This is your time and this is your
journey!
