Transformation of the Day: Yulonda lost 48 pounds. Her main motivations were her sons and wanting to be in good health for years to come. By researching nutrition, avoiding processed food, working out at home and staying focused, she has transformed.
My name is Yulonda, AKA Coach Yulonda, and I would like to share my story in hopes of inspiring other women to take a chance on themselves, especially when it comes to health and weight loss.
What was your motivation?
I never wanted to hear bad news from my doctor, so my motivation was to keep going until it stuck mentally and results showed physically. My Dr. would always say, “Your numbers are good. You just need to lose weight.”, which in my mind meant if you don’t stop doing what your doing, your numbers will not always be good.
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My sons! They were watching, even on the days when I had no motivation and no energy. I kept going because I didn’t want them to see me quit. I made a commitment and promised myself that I was going to show up regardless. My sons watching me keeps me motivated.
How did you change your eating habits?
One day at a time. I started adding veggies to almost every meal and drinking water instead of soda or juice.
Once I started adding in veggies, I slowly started cutting out many processed foods, junk foods, cookies, candies, pies and watched my portion intake of all those good nutritious foods. I was very mindful of what I was eating. I took the time to research nutrition and what foods would give my body the best nutrients out there.
Let us know if you used a specific plan or program.
I created my own plan. I created my own meal guide and adopted an exercise routine.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I worked out at home 3 to 5 days a week, 20 to 30 minutes a day. I did cardio and strength training. The key to weight loss is truly the foods you eat. Exercise enhances what you’re already doing, which becomes a double hitter, and the results will come.
What was your starting weight?
267 pounds
What is your current weight?
219 pounds, and I’m still striving for my overall goal of 160 pounds.
What is your height?
5’2″
When did you start your journey?
I started on 3/5/21.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, I did this all naturally. No surgery at all!
How long did your transformation take?
My body started to transform within four months, and it’s still transforming today because I’m still on my journey.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
To never give up! Each day won’t be peaches and cream, but giving up will only push you backward on your journey. Also, stay away from the scale! Your body transforms with inches lost and how you feel and look! So always go by that and never the scale!
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Start! Don’t put it off. Also, take your time, be patient with yourself and have grace. Instant gratification will never last, so take your time, and the results will come!
