Today’s Inspiration | What quick fix weight loss solutions have you fallen for? Pills, powders, shots? Did they work long term? Do you really get the benefits that were promised? The quick fixes look good because so many of us are optimistic that we have found the magic solution that will help us to lose weight. We really want to find a good solution to help us lose weight, but we also want fast weight loss.
Since I started the Black Women Losing Weight Community, I can tell you that I’ve come in contact with all kinds of weight loss products promising quick results. Body by Vi, Skinny Fiber, Body Wraps, etc. Diet teas, Raspberry Keytones, and green coffee. The list goes on and on. I’ve personally been put off by most of these products because they are connected to pyramid style schemes where someone makes money from selling them to me and the person who recruited them to sell makes even more. It seems like the focus is to bring more people on to sell the products and sell more products not helping people to get healthy. Eh…that’s my opinion. Weight loss is a billion dollar industry for a reason.
I would never buy into these quick fix products now, but I have in the past. I took fat burners in college. I drank dieter’s tea in my twenties and dropped water weight. I even did the whole fiber cleanse pills thing when that was really popular.
The issue is that any weight I lost with these quick fixes came right back after I stopped using them. When I went back to bad eating habits and no exercise, there were no after affects of these products that kicked in to combat my bad habits. I didn’t get what I wanted. I didn’t get what I thought I was paying for.
So, now I don’t look for quick-fixes. Now I realize that the best way to lose weight is a way that will keep the pounds off long term. Quick weight loss is no longer my desire. I want healthy weight loss that I can maintain. I have found that eating right and exercising are the best ways to achieve that. The extra bonus is that I don’t waste my money on fad products or the latest thing in weight loss.

I love this!!! I have been on my journey for almost two months and it has been challenging. Losing weight is a mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional journey…but it is so worth it! Quick fixes are just temporary fixes. Its not worth it to me! No matter how challenging I am going to stick with healthy eating and exercise.

I understand why some people will feel that way. The truth of the matter is you can go to the grocery store and buy slimfast and follow the plan and lose weight. The problem is not just losing weight following a fad it is also the lack of nutritional value in what you are using. What are the ingredients in this stuff? That is what truly makes the difference. What benefit is it to you if you are losing weight and don’t have everything that you need to keep you healthy? This will create a different problem. Lack of real energy and vitality because alot of these things are fueld with stimulants with no nutritional value.
As for people making money because you make a purchase or give someone else an oppurtunity to make money what is wrong with that? We need money to eat. We go shop in grocery stores everyday that sell us inferior products that don’t even have the daily requirements that we need to be healthy. Yes and we are making the owners very wealthy. Yes they are a pyramid because the workers work and they will never be rich. Yes the bagger makes less than the cashier, the cashier makes less than the manager, the owner makes less than the corporation. Yes becuase they own a franchise where they pay royalties to the corporation who is hitting the mother load buy giving an individual who can afford to spend thousands or hundreds of thousands sometimes more to use their name.
That is just something to think about. Especially if you are working a job that does not pay enough to cover you necessities forget your wants. Let’s not even think about the time taken away from you and your families because you are putting in overtime. This is the reality of the situation.
These oppurtunities help you to help others who are willing to work hard for themselves. I pray that this does not offend anyone. I am just a woman who has been over weight for almost 20 years and working like a mule for longer. I want a better life and better health. I have accomplished quite a bit with my weight I am still working on the other 🙂 hope this helps. Also know that maintaining a healthy lifestyle is for life. So if you stop taking care of yourself no matter how you lose the weight you will gain it all back.

BEAUTY FROM THE INSIDE OUT

Bonnie, I understand what you are saying. There are some good people out there with good intentions.
I just think that there are too many people out there selling pills, powders, shakes, and dvds that aren’t really focused on helping people lose weight. I’ve come into contact with them. They want me to let them spam the members of BWLW for their own profit. They want to post ads to our sites, but they don’t interact on the site, sharing wisdom or information that can help people. They just want to post info about buying something and move on to the next opportunity. That is not right, IMHO.
Also, I’m about lifestyle change. A person can workout without buying $200 worth of videos. They can walk, run, etc for free. A person can make shakes with fresh fruits and veggies that are full of nutrients and vitamins with no chemicals and preservatives that you find in processed diet foods. They can do both of these things for a lifetime. I’m about people being able to make changes that they can maintain for a lifetime. Most of the products I see promoted via MLM are not realistic as lifestyle changes, if for nothing but the thought of paying for those products for the rest of your life and being on those supplements for the rest of your life.

Bonnie i totally agree with you it’s not the products that beening sold that’s promiseing fast results.because nothing works overnite not even a lot of these products that’s been put on blast. .i’m taking a product in which i am proud of it’s been my way to help shed these stuborn pounds that i’ve worked so hard to get off.and yes my product is exspensive but you get what you pay for. i have reached my goal and still aiming.i feel that what i spend a month at a grocery store for steaks and other unhealthy foods i pay less for 1 month supply .that’s better than trying to feed my kids Mc Donalds and everything else that’s not good for the body .and as far as us making money by selling products everywhere you shop the store owner or whoever invested in the company. is making money.that’s just like paying your Dr. a co-pay to see him if he’s good at his work and a friend needed to use your Dr. would you not send her to him knowing that he can help her.she still has to make her co-pay so money is still being made.i’ve tryed my products with my own money before i introduced my family to it.i invested to prove it works.so the only way you don’t get results with my products is because you did’nt follow the plan it’s not the product fault you falled once again .sorry don’t mean to step on toes but please know what you talking about before you put products on blast in which mines was’nt on there cause we’re the best i must say.

Hello Tywana want is the name of the product your using?

At the end of the day, I have my beliefs and convictions. I don’t want my members spammed or sold to. I have issues with the motivations of some who claim they want to help people but are not knowledgeable about what is in the products they are selling, potential issues with products, etc. Some people selling diet products are just trying to make money, not all. If you two ladies are helping people grow and personally benefiting then that’s great. Good for you.
Tywana, I do know what I’m talking about. Thousands of people have paid good money for things sales people promised would work, followed the instructions to the letter and it did NOT.
Also, of course people will hear about all manner of products else where. That is how the internet works. Everyone has their right to chose. So do I.
In my opinion, these products are nothing like a doctor’s visit or buying healthy food for your family as you make the comparison. Doctor’s have a level of expertise that can not be compared to a diet pill salesperson.
