Hey Ladies, On Saturday, We got a shout out from Iyanla Vanzant via Facebook. We are so honored that she would reach out to us. Take a look!
“Dear Beloved Sisters of the Black Women Losing Weight facebook page,
I want to thank you for the quote you used the other day: “You can accept or reject the way you are treated by other people, but until you heal the wounds of your past, you will continue to bleed. You can bandage the bleeding with food, with alcohol, with drugs, with work, with cigarettes, with sex, but eventually, it will all ooze through and stain your life. You must find the strength to open the wounds, stick your hands inside, pull out the core of the pain that is holding you in your past, the memories, and make peace with them” from my book, Yesterday I Cried.
It is so very good of you to create this space for other women to come together and support one another in their quest for self-respect and self-love. You are showing that we can accomplish anything when we stand together in love for one another and ourselves.
I hope you’ll be watching with me tonight on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network because this episode of Iyanla:Fix My Life is all about the things that weigh us down, both internally and externally.”
Many of us watched the episode and were touched. I was very moved by the emotional life work that the Pace Sisters did with Iyanla on this episode “Fix My Life”. There is a deep connection between emotional/relational/abuse issues and weight gain. If you don’t deal with those issues, weight loss is a true struggle and long term weight loss can be compromised by emotional eating and triggers. You CAN be changed. You can be free from the past and your emotions can be managed. You can face the abuse in your past. You can be healthy and happy, not just to attain weight loss, but so that you can live your best life. You CAN be changed.
