Viola lost 25 pounds. This former yo-yo dieter slimmed down with high-intensity interval training and clean eating. During the process of losing weight, she gained physical and mental strength.
I’ve included my photos that are exactly one year apart. It’s not a huge difference physically, but the mental strength I’ve gained is what keeps me going. In the before photo, I was lazy and ate a pint of ice cream every day. I would wish and pray to lose weight but didn’t do anything about it. I was in an unhappy relationship, and it showed as I keep neglecting myself. I wasn’t prioritizing myself, and I wasn’t taking care of me. I was a big yo-yo dieter and an overweight vegan.
In December 2019, I shaved off all my hair (a second big chop), and decided to start all over, making sure I was the most important part of my life. From then on, I stopped living for others and did it for me. I’ve kept a mainly plant-focused diet. However, I listened to my sick vegan / anemic body and incorporated seafood back into my diet. This just shows that everything isn’t for everyone, even the “healthiest diet.”
Give us some examples of the healthy foods you eat regularly?
Oranges and grapes – I eat them when I really want sugar, especially early in the morning when I want pancakes or cereal). Also, I eat broccoli and asparagus. I’ve basically replaced most of the extra carbs I would have (like rice or potatoes) with a green vegetable. This is because I still like breaded foods, and that has more than enough white carbs.
How often did you work out?
I worked out 3-4 times per week, mainly doing HIIT. I also walked 80,000 steps a week for about three months during a workplace challenge.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
Starting Weight: 189 pounds
Current weight: 164 pounds
Goal weight: Whenever my abs show.
Since January, I’ve lost 25 pounds with clean eating and HIIT (thanks COVID for closing my gym). More importantly, my dresses have gone from XL/size 12 to M/size 8. My pants have gone from size 14 to 10. I’m still continuing this journey. ️
What is your height?
5’6″
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far? What advice would you like to share?
Do it for yourself. Take photos, and do what you enjoy. To this day, I HATE burpees, and I refuse to do them. Lol, and I’m losing weight just fine.
Also, sometimes you may fall all the way off… for weeks. Know that you have your whole life to live. Just start again until you’re happy with what you see.
