What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My children motivated me to live a healthier lifestyle. I had my last child five months shy of my 40th bday. It was scary to think I might not be around when they were in their teens and twenties if I didn’t change my habits.
What inspires me to keep going is me. I’m very competitive by nature, so I constantly challenge myself. I fail a lot, but it’s ok because I keep trying. That consistency has made me stronger, more mobile, and slimmer. I’m determined to be in the best shape mentally, physically, and spiritually.
How did you change your eating habits?
For the first year, I did keto and some intermittent fasting. I was happy the weight was gone but not happy with how my body looked. I transitioned to tracking macros as I started to spend time in the gym.
What is your workout routine? How often did you work out?
I work out five days a week – Five days of weight training with 10 minutes of walking on an incline after training.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 277 pounds, and my current weight is 189 pounds.
What is your height?
5’7″
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started in September 2019. My journey has taken many detours. In some parts, I’ve gained weight, and in some, I’ve lost.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No. Not to knock that tools anyone uses help them. It just isn’t for me. I want to see how far I can take this body naturally.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Love yourself at every stage of your journey. Just because you lose weight, it doesn’t mean you’ll be happy.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Just start! Don’t overthink it. Start with one thing you’ll do every day that’s different from what you’re already doing, and stay consistent. My one thing was 30 minutes a day. I was going to lift weights. It didn’t feel like enough, but over time those 30 minutes added up to a package I’m more secure about.
