Transformation of the Day: Victoria lost 70 pounds by embracing a Keto lifestyle. After she found out that her headaches were related to high blood pressure, this Occupational Therapist decided to take action. She completely switched up her eating habits and partnered with a friend for accountability.
My name is Victoria, and I’m 32 years old. My starting weight was 255 pounds, and now I weigh 185 pounds.
What was your motivation?
I went to the doctor because I was having headaches, and that’s when I found out I had high blood pressure. It scared me because I work in the medical field as an Occupational Therapist. I know how high blood pressure could affect me if I didn’t start to take care of myself.
How did you change your eating habits?
I always struggled with my weight fluctuating because I would try different weight loss programs or diet pills that only helped temporarily. I heard about the Keto diet and that it has so many benefits, especially for someone who suffers from high blood pressure.
I did my own research on Keto, and I told a close friend about it. We both decided to give it a try. January 21, 2019, was the first day of our Keto journey. We held each other accountable for our actions and pushed each other to stay focused on our weight loss goals.
I stopped eating pasta, bread, fried food, and sugar. I began to eat more veggies, meats, and healthy fats instead. I kept my carbs within 20 net grams per day. My fats were at 145g, and protein at 70g per day.
After the first six months, I was down 50 pounds, and I was amazed by my results. A year and a half later, I’m down 70 pounds and taking things slow and steady.
How often do you workout?
I work out 4-5 times a week for an hour.
What is your height?
My height is 5’5″.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
What I learned while being on this weight-loss journey is that I’m in control of my happiness. Being healthy is what makes me happy.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
The advice I have for other women who are trying to lose weight: First, be realistic with your goals. Also, you have to let go of any negativity in your life because you must be mentally ready to change your life for the better.
