What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
I was motivated to lose weight at age 51. This was after being diagnosed with stage 4 Osteoarthritis in my left knee, getting a plate and two screws in my cervical spine with the removal of my C5 and C6 vertebrae and I have a fused lumbar spine… all while suffering from extreme menopausal symptoms.
I was tired of being in constant excruciating pain and not having any quality of life. I decided that I could no longer allow my ailments to stop me from reaching my goal to get healthy.
How did you change your eating habits?
I did not want to take any prescription medication, so I decided to change my diet by eating less than ten net carbs per day. I increased my water intake and practiced intermittent fasting (only eating between 11 am – 7 pm). I had black coffee, tea, and water during my fasting periods.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I work out four times a week doing cardio (treadmill) and resistant training (light weights, more reps).
When did you start your journey?
I started my journey in February 2019, and I reached my goal by December 2019.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I learned is that consistency is key. It will not happen overnight. You must be patient and trust the process.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
My advice to anyone who has given up hope of losing weight, especially if you are going through menopause and or suffering from injuries, is don’t give up!! If I can do it, you can do it.
Keep going no matter what! 80% is what you eat, and 20% is exercise.

Congratulations with you life transformation. I am so inspired with your journey as I too suffer from Osteoporosis. In my late 40’s, I was advised to have a hip replacement. I will be 60 this year and finally considering the procedure. I have had some weight loss and success with changing my diet to reduce inflammation and pain. I’d like to know more about your health plan particularly your exercise program and intermittent fasting routine. Thank you for sharing. How can I get in touch with you?
