Transformation of the Day: Vanessa lost 56 pounds. She’s a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. PCOS, Hyper Thyroidism and the aftermath of a terrible car accident all contributed to her weight gain. She found success working with her weight loss coach, who also happens to be a Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity member.

My name is Vanessa Lewis. I am a Finer Woman of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. I have been working with Terry Starks, The Diet Doctor, and want to share my weight loss journey.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My life was literally on the line. I suffer from PCOS and Hyper Thyroidism. In 2019 I was involved in a really bad car accident. I had two surgeries and was at my biggest. I worked to recover so that I could begin my weight loss journey.
My motivation is not to be fat before I turn 40 next year. I also wanted to look better for my organization’s National Boule next month in Philadelphia.
How did you change your eating habits?
I worked with Terry to develop a healthy meal plan and learn how to meal prep. He helped me a lot. I cut out all sweets, bread, and sodas. Instead, I ate grilled chicken, salad, broccoli, Brussel sprouts, green beans, green peas, vegetables, and fruits.
What is your workout routine? How often did you work out?
I work out twice a day. Once in the morning, before I eat breakfast and another workout 30-40 minutes before I go to bed.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 286 pounds. I currently weigh 230 pounds. I have lost over 50 lbs, thanks to Terry Starks!
What is your height?
5’3″
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No. I wanted to do my journey naturally.
When did you start your journey?
April 18th
How long did your transformation take?
It took ten weeks.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I learned how to meal prep and that eating clean is not as difficult as it seems. It is not about dieting. It is about making a lifestyle change.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Do not wait! Stop putting off your health, and just go for it! Tomorrow is not promised. You will not only look better, but you will feel better. If you are lost like I was, hit up Terry Starks to help jumpstart your journey!
Excerpt from my recent Facebook post: I don’t normally share personal stuff, lol. I’ve been hesitant to post my before/afters because I’m still on my journey. However, I am thankful and grateful to Frat for being such a great coach!
After my car accident and two surgeries, I gained so much weight from sitting—all this right when Covid started. I gave myself almost a year to try to heal after my last surgery. I am still not 100% recovered from the accident and all the surgeries on my shoulder and probably will never be. Still, the pain in my shoulder has definitely subsided significantly since being on the program.
Thank you, Frat! You have helped so many people (greek or not), and I am so happy I found you. Thank you, Soror Sherita S. Hilton, for being an inspiration. I watched your journey and knew I had to join as well.
Stay tuned. I’m not finished yet. Thank you to the hubby, R-l Lewis, for being my biggest supporter and cheerleader. Sherie Davis, we did this together, motivating each other the whole way through, and you look Amazing! So proud of you too, Sis!
SN: Even though I have a condition that makes me gain weight (Thyroid), I was still able to succeed with this program! If you’re on the fence, hit him up! It works! #NeverTooLateToMakeAChange
