Shout out to Patreasha. She shared her journey with us back in 2017. Recently, she wrote in to update us on her progress. After experiencing some weight gain, she got back on track, shed back fat, and snatched her waist. Check out her update.
As a fitness professional, people often assume that we are EXEMPT from weight gain. Life hits us hard too and we fall off. I had to find my motivation again because I knew I had so many people who looked up to me. I also knew that my physical health depended on it.
In January 2019, I started over (again). I started in the kitchen first by cutting out processed foods and any foods with added sugar. As the fat started to melt, I eliminated most animal based products. After all, this journey wasn’t for vanity proposes, it was for my health.
Not being a huge fan of cardio, weight training was my go to 4-5 times a week.
I find scales to be discouraging so I decided to not use the scale as a measuring tool for progress. Instead, I choose to use side by side photos.
I found that on my journey I saw the most changes by just adjusting my diet. You hear it all the time, but you really cannot out-train a bad diet. Sugar for many is the biggest culprit.
One mistake I was making was “drinking my calories”. Don’t waste your daily intake on tea, juice, soda, coffee or too many protein shakes. Your body needs REAL WHOLE FOODS packed with minerals and nutrients.
