Update: We’ve been followingΒ Dee Dee since 2013 when she shared her story of losing 100 pounds with us. Check out what she’s been up to as she’s maintained her success. Now, she is helping other people reach their weight loss and wellness goals.
Read what she shared with us in the past about what she did to achieve her amazing transformation.
InΒ May 2010, I decided to change my life and turn to a healthier lifestyle. AtΒ that time, my weight was 232 pounds. As of December 2013, I weighed 132 pounds (mostly muscle) which was a totalΒ weight loss of 100 lbs. I knew that with a background of 15 years dance and marching in a historicalΒ collegiate band at Alabama A&M University, there was no excuse for beingΒ overweight.
My mother who was diagnosed in 2007 with Breast Cancer and myΒ uncle was diagnosed with brain damage (has seizures at any time). TheirΒ doctors challenge them to workout at least 3-4 days a week. They haveΒ surely kept their end of the deal and workout faithfully. They haveΒ continued to be a motivation to me. I moved in with them for six months after myΒ divorce. At the time, I was struggling with high blood pressure (192/98).
I changed myΒ eating habits by taking sugar, fried foods and whites (rice, bread,Β etc.) out of my diet. I now love juicing veggies and fruits every day and only eat on aΒ small, salad size plate. My workout routines started off aggressive withΒ walking and step aerobics 5 days a week and sometimes twice a day. Now, IΒ have narrowed it down to 4-5 days a week once a day. I have included running and weight lifting as well.
Today, I am Barre CertifiedΒ Instructor and a Nutrition Coach. I’mΒ working on completing my Personal Trainer Certification. I also teachΒ Dance Cardio, just like my favorite Fitness motivator Shaun T. (absolutelyΒ love him and his energy). I have also completed four 5ks, a 10k, and TheΒ Atlanta Peachtree Road Race. This year my goal is to run the Georgia HalfΒ Marathon in March and complete more fitness certifications in YouthΒ Fitness and Nutrition.
My advice to others is that you first have to want it andΒ then you apply yourself. The weight will come off in no time and you willΒ feel so much better. This has been a beautiful journey and I am so happy toΒ be in a place where I can share my techniques.” I offer meal plans, mealΒ prep services in the Atlanta Area.
