Tytiana lost 80 pounds. After dreaming of being a member of the Alabama State Honeybeez for years, she was crushed when her weight stood in the way of her dream. She decided to change her lifestyle and dance off the pounds.
My name is Tytiana, and I attend Alabama State University where I am
currently a Sophmore.
What was your motivation?
I have always wanted to be a Honeybee at Alabama State. I was so excited auditions came. However, I was told that I had to lose weight. Basically, I was too big to be a Honeybee. I cried and cried because I felt like my dreams was crushed in just a matter of seconds. I literally had my dreams snatched from me.
When the first game came, I saw the girls out there performing and I cried again. Later, I looked myself in the mirror and asked myself to hold on. I told myself that everything was gonna be alright.
How did you change your eating habits?
My eating habits didn’t necessarily change. I just ate less.
What did your workout routine consist of?
DANCING DANCING DANCING. I danced for hours. A typical work out
routine is boring to me, so I dance for my workout instead.
How often did you workout?
I worked out 2 times a day.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 360 pounds, and I currently weigh 280 pounds. I’m still losing weight. My height is 5’3″.
When did you start your journey?
June 2017
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
Never let anyone tell you that what you’re doing isn’t enough. Go at your own pace and love yourself.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Stop comparing yourself to other people. You have your own body. It’s not about losing weight. It’s about getting healthy and fit. Your journey is your
journey. You control the gas and the breaks on it.
