Trina lost 23 pounds. She commited to a healthy lifestyle change after being diagnosed with diabetes and having gallbladder surgery. With the help of her husband, her trainer and her support group, she is releasing the pounds. Check out her journey.
My name is Trina and this is my journey to a healthy lifestyle. My weight loss journey started when I was diagnosed with diabetes. That really scared me and pushed me lose the pounds. My husband has also lost weight and we work out together.
What inspired you whenyou wanted to give up?
I’d recently had gall bladder surgery and couldn’t workout for 5 weeks. I was depressed, but as soon as the healing was complete I was right back at it, full force.
How did you change your eating habits?
I found a personal trainer and who helped me change my eating habits. Less fatty foods and more greens, vegetables and lean meats. I stopped eating beef and greasy foods. That helped a lot. I also stopped eating after 6:30 pm. I was never a soda drinker to start, so that was easy to stay away from.
What did your workout routines look like?
I work out 3 times a week with my trainer. On the other days, I walk 3-6 miles to keep going. My trainer is targeting areas of my body so that in the long term I will have more muscle and less fat. I’m boxing, doing lots of weight lifting and doing some cardio. It’s the boxing that I love I also take the stairs at work instead of using the elevators.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 292 pounds and my current weight is 269 pounds. My goal weight is 230 pounds. My height is 5’4″. My clothes fit better. I have gone from a size 22 pants to size 18/20.
How long did your transformation take?
I started in June 2016 and I’m still in the process.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Take your time and don’t rush it. Eat, pray and believe in yourself. Surround yourself with a support team. I have a group of woman that I’ve connected to. We are striving for the same goal and that’s important. Weight loss is not easy and who your surround yourself with helps make it a little easier.
