Weight Loss Story: Torre lost 55 pounds, going from a size 16 to a size 8. She was already on blood pressure and cholesterol meds, but when her doctor was about to put her on diabetes medication, she had a breakthrough. She decided to have weight loss surgery and as a result she’s changed her eating habits and embraced regular exercise. Here is what she shared with us about her journey…
My name is Torre B. I’m 43 years old and I live in Orlando Florida. Prior to my weight loss, I was taking medication for High Blood Pressure and High Cholesterol. I also had Sleep Apnea and slept with a C -PAP machine. My breaking point was when my doctor was about to add a pill for Diabetes to the other pills I was already taking and my weight was at an all time high of 234 pounds! At that point I decided to take control of my life.
I had the Gastric Sleeve weight loss surgery on 7/18/15 and I’ve lost 50 since my surgery. I now have a high protein, healthy carb lifestyle. I also joined the gym for the first time. I workout 3-4 days per week doing lots of cardio and weight training. I’m no longer on any medication and I no longer have sleep apnea. I feel healthy, alive and amazing. I went from a size 16 to a size 8. My goal weight is 135-140 pounds. I have about 40+ more pounds until I reach my goal! I’m 5’3″ tall.
My eating habits before my surgery were all over the place! My biggest problem was overeating. I would eat because it tasted good, not because I was hungry. Now, post surgery, I eat lean beef, chicken, fish and lots of veggies! I drink a low sugar protein drink called Rockin Refuel and Isopure Protein drinks. I eliminated sugar all together and I drink nothing but water!
My only regret about having the surgery is not having it sooner! Anyone who is considering having weight loss surgery needs to understand that it’s a tool to assist you with your weight loss. The success of your weight loss depends on you! If you don’t follow the diet your doctor puts you on, you won’t be as successful and you will gain the weight back.
