Transformation of the Day: Toni lost 30 pounds and went from a size 16 to a size 10. After going in and out of the hospital for 20 years due to colon disease, she is now medicine free. She shared with us how she used fitness and healthy food to change her life.
I have a colon disease called Ulcerative Colitis. I was in and out the hospital for almost 20 years. I was also working out off and on for years, but for all for the wrong reasons (to keep or to get a guy, for example). It wasn’t until I looked in the mirror and didn’t recognise myself that I decided to change. I decided that enough was enough, changed my eating habits and started focusing on a healthier me.
I officially started my journey about 2 years ago. I am 5’4″ and my starting weight was 200 pounds. My current weight is 170 pounds and I’ve gone from a size 16 to a size 10.I have been hospital free and medicine free for a year and a half.
In the past, I would always say to myself, “You have to keep pushing. You can’t stop. Your results are coming.” I thank God every day for this blessing.
How did you change your eating habits?
When I made up my mind, I sat down and asked myself, “Do you really want this? When the answer was a for real Yes, I stopped eating beef, pork, processed food and junk food. Every Monday, I take the time out to meal prep for the week. I eat more fruits, more vegetables and drink a gallon of water a day.
What does your workout routine look like?
I workout 4-5 times a week. I break up my week into 1 day of cardio, 1 day of of legs and glutes, 1 day of glutes and abs, 1 day of just abs, 1 day of shoulders and back and 1 day of triceps and biceps.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
While on this journey, I’ve learned that you are what you eat. You can workout all you want, but if you are not eating properly it is not beneficial.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
My advice to other women is to never give up. Keep on pushing! Your results are coming.
