Transformation of the Day: Tiffiney lost 275 pounds. She was tired of negative comments about her weight. She was also tired of not finding her size in clothing stores. Exercise was a huge part of her transformation, along with healthier eating habits. Check out her story.
I am Tiffiney Neal, and I have lost over 275 pounds, and I’m still losing weight (basically, I’ve lost two human beings from my body). My photos are proof of the dramatic lifestyle change that I had to partake in. It happened during ten years of battling diabetes, not being able to play with my kids, and having trouble finding clothing in my size in retail stores. Right now, it feels SO good to walk into a fashion store and have the ability to pick clothes that are sexy, luxurious, and comfortable.
In the past, I used to cry after I left a store because I would see something that I liked but could not wear it because I was too heavy or the salesperson would tell me that they didn’t have my size. It hurt me to the CORE. People do not understand how much pain I felt when this would occur. Eventually, I decided that ENOUGH was ENOUGH! I want to be healthy! I want to live longer than the doctors told me I would! I want to defy the odds and lose weight! I want to be HAPPY!
I was once tipped the scales at over 400 pounds, but now I am healthy and happier at 160 pounds with a 5 foot, 5-inch frame!
My Motivation: People used to talk about me because of my weight, and I just got sick and tired of it! I will not tolerate any more abuse.
I needed to lose weight badly and pursue my goal. When I put my mind to something, you better believe I will follow through on it. There were times that I wanted to give up so bad and just let God take me. The problem was that God wasn’t ready for me just yet. He told me that I still had a lot of work to do, and he would help me through it.
Exercise: I exercised 5-6 days a week, for 2 hours. On odd days, I performed cardiovascular fitness such as working out on the treadmill and elliptical. On my even days, I did some strength and abdominal training. On days that I couldn’t run, I did a brisk walk for 3 miles. When I did run, I ran my heart out! Also, I liked to dance. Dancing, believe it or not, is an excellent tool for burning calories and having energy.
Eating Habits: It was a complete lifestyle change. I ate healthier food. I had more fruits and vegetables, more protein, and fewer carbohydrates.
Advice: My advice for those who want to lose the weight is to start off slow. The body will not lie to you. It can only do what it is capable of at that moment. Don’t force yourself or push yourself to do so much that you end up hurting yourself or fall further behind in reaching your goal.
The key to setting goals is to create a timeline of how much you want to lose in a week, a month, 6 months, etc. Be accountable for yourself. Don’t make any excuses and be prepared for setbacks because you will have them. The resilient ones are the ones who can overcome the bad days and turn them into positive, fulfilling, great days!
