Tiffany lost 85 pounds. She was diagnosed with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and a BMI of 56. After years of trying to lose the pounds, she decided that weight loss surgery would be the best tool to help her improve her health. Today, all of those ailments are gone and she is no longer on meds. Check out her journey.
After being diagnosed with high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol and finding out that I had a BMI of 56, I decided to have weight loss surgery on June 26, 2015. After a battling for over 10 years of trying to lose weight on my own, it was the only option I had left on the road to a healthier lifestyle. I really wanted to achieve my weight loss goal. At my heaviest, I weighed 315 pounds.
I recently celebrated the one year anniversary of my Gastric Bypass surgery and I am down a total of 85 pounds. My height is 5’2″ and on my anniversary date I weighed 230 lbs. My high blood pressure is GONE. High cholesterol is GONE. Diabetes is GONE. NO MORE MEDS! A lot of people think that weight loss surgery is the easy way out. That is a total myth. It is a tool to help you become more disciplined so that you can be a healthier you.
After surgery, my diet consisted of a high protein, low carb, no sugar diet. My sugar intake should always be under 14 grams per serving. I committed to walking 4 miles, 5 days a week. Now, I can complete my walks in less than 1 hour. In the beginning, when I started my work outs, it took 2 hours. Believe it or not, the hardest part of this process was having to divorce Pepsi sodas. I haven’t had a Pepsi in over a year, but after the first 3 months I actually didn’t miss it.
My advice to others is decide what works for YOU. Everyone is different. What works for someone else may not work for you. Study your body. Do your homework. Don’t welcome any negative energy or opinions on the decision you make to improve your health. I only wish I’d made the decision to change 10 years ago.
