Let’s show some BWLW Love to Tiffany who lost 43 pounds by going raw vegan. Here is what she shared with us:
This past December, I passed a mirror and surprised myself. I thought, “surely I am not that big.” I decided to take a picture of myself. One turned two then ten. I just knew, if I kept snapping, I’d see the woman I thought I was. It never happened. I knew then I had to change. My son deserves a mother who is fit enough to play, and my students deserve a teacher healthy enough to instruct.
I began my weight loss journey on January 8, 2013. I stepped on the scale at an embarrassing 289 lbs. Over the last 7 months, I have lost 43 lbs. Currently, I weigh 246. Mostly, I credit my weight loss a change of my diet and exercise 4-6 times a week. I’ve found myfitnesspal, my gym membership, and Zumba to my success. The community and challenges I’ve found through Instagram and Black Women Losing Weight have been tremendous motivation to keep going.
I still have roughly 60 lbs to go before I reach my target weight. In the beginning, I used Dr. Oz’s Flat Belly plan. I tried some of the shakes, but they didn’t work for me. Now I eat a 60-100% raw fruits, vegetables, and nuts a day, but currently, I am eating a 100% raw diet to detox. I also drink a gallon of water per day. Regardless of how this story ends, I am thrilled with my progress thus far.

Congratulations on ur success Tiffany! We have a lot in common: I have a young daughter who I need to get more active with; I’m a teacher who now hates moving around among my students; and I’m well into the 200s as far as weight range and want to reach my goal of 160. This month’s challenge is exactly what I needed to kick me in the butt to get seriously started. I had been reading about raw diets for a good while and I’m quite enjoying doing it at about 75% since starting the challenge. I wish u the best on ur journey. I know u can do it. We are going to make this a lifestyle so that we can be the best moms/teachrrs that we can be!
