I’m 45 years old and I have been a yo-yo dieter for years. My weight loss journey started, off and on, in 2007. I was always looking for the next best trend for fast weight loss that came out on the market. Of course, none of that worked for me. Then, I decided that I would pay for a gym membership. I believed that would give me the motivation to I needed, but that didn’t work either. Month after month, money would be drafted out of my account and I was still out of shape.
What was your motivation?
In 2010, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. I knew back then that had to buckle down.
In 2015, I got serious. At the time, I weighed 225 pounds. I looked in the mirror one day and I just didn’t like what I saw. Being overweight and depressed in a rocky relationship, I knew had to do something. I felt like my heart could not take any more. My boyfriend was in shape. He never said anything about my situation, although he did encourage me to go to the gym. I was ashamed of myself and I felt like he was ashamed of me too.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started by focusing on my eating habits. Believe it or not, I am not crazy about food. However, I am addicted to sugary snacks. I still struggle with eating clean, but I force myself to eat to fuel my body.
What is your workout routine?
I workout 6 days a week. I do 3 days of circuit full body training and 3 days of cardio. I started lifting weights and I continue to work hard on my form. I am currently working on my personal trainer certification through NASM to become a Transformation Coach.
