I’ve been consistent with my journey for almost 5 years now. I started my weight loss journey in 2014 because I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I was a single mom of two working on my Bachelors degree. My youngest was only 6 months old at the time and I had no energy! I knew I needed to get in shape to keep up with her and my then 11 year old daughter. My children have definitely been my motivation.
I later found out that I had hypothyroidism and high blood pressure. I knew that it was necessary for me to do something to get and stay healthy because I was definitely overweight for my height.
I started changing what I consumed on a daily basis. I ate more lean meats, more fresh fruits and more veggies. I also increased my water intake. I began my workout routine by just attending group fitness classes. I started with Zumba and yoga. I later added Dance Fusion and Bootcamps to the mix. I worked out anywhere from 3-5 times per week. I got down as low as 140lbs. I currently weigh a healthy 150 pounds.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned on my journey is that you can do anything you put you mind to. It all starts with a change in your mindset. If you don’t have the focus, you will fall off time and time again. You have to find something that you enjoy and stick to it.
Because of group fitness classes, I went on to become a Dance Fitness instructor. I also started my own business as a Fitness Motivator and Business Mentor. I help people create a business from their fitness journey! If I can do this, anyone can.
People say that fitness is 80% nutrition and 20% Fitness. Well, I say it’s 100% mental!
