Transformation of the Day: Ticara lost 57 pounds. As she neared 30, this mom realized that she weighed more than she did when she was pregnant. That’s when she decided to start eating clean, began working with a trainer and found a love for running. Here is what she shared with us about how her progress…
My weight loss started when I realized I was reaching the age of 30 and weighed more than I did when I was pregnant. My inspiration has been really my kids. When I started losing weight, they would hug me and actually say “Mama you’re small.” I was determined not to let them down and to stay healthy. I also started posting about my journey online to gain support (and actually to help others too).
Once I started eating clean the weight started to fall off. I stay away from anything white (white bread, white sugar, etc), bread and sugar (even some fruits). I prep my meals on Sundays. I already didn’t eat much pork or beef. I mainly stick to fish, chicken and turkey. Pinterest has been my best friend when it comes to finding different types of recipes.
I had a trainer who I worked out with twice a week and she was my inspiration to stop being lazy. I made every excuse about why I didn’t have time to work out. I run more now than ever, especially outside. I try to do at least one marathon a year just for fun. This year, I’m going for two.
When I run, I try to do it early in the morning before eating (fasted cardio). I do this so I’ll burn the most calories and start my day off right. With my trainer, we do weight training, yoga and at least 30 minutes of cardio. I will do two-a-days and as long as I’m sweating I feel like I’m doing something. My best, hardest workouts include; burpees, squats w/weights, push-ups, high knees, and sprints.
I started at 240 pounds and currently I weigh 183 pounds at 5’2″. My goal weight is about 160-170 lbs. Life has been a journey since my start and I’m currently about a year into it.
I’ve had moments where I wasn’t seeing the progress that I wanted, but I blamed my diet and laziness. I tell all the women I meet that once you put it in your mind that losing the weight is for YOU AND YOU ONLY, only then will you succeed. Don’t do it for anyone else!
