Transformation of the Day: Tiara lost 45 pounds. She had a successful transformation a few years back, but after getting divorced, she gained all the weight back. Her story shows that despite the challenges we may face, we can always get up and get back on track with our goals. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I get this question a lot, and it’s always the most difficult to answer. There have been so many motivating factors on my weight loss journey. What started in 2014 as an aesthetic journey to visually please my ex-husband (rolls eyes), shifted to a spiritual journey that helped heal my mind.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey in 2014. My first transformation, when I lost about 50 pounds took about five months. After the first transformation, I relapsed when I went through a divorce and gained it all back! My second transformation is still a work in progress. I am down 30 pounds and becoming stronger than I’ve ever been (mentally and physically).
How did you change your eating habits?
Initially, I cut out fried foods, high sugar foods, and high sodium foods. I also increased my water intake and activity level. I’ve maintained a pescetarian diet since 2017.
What did your workout routine consist of?
When I started this journey in 2014, I did a lot of cardio to get the excess weight off. My regimen was 1-hour walking/jogging on the treadmill three times a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 215 pounds. My current weight is 170 pounds.
What is your height?
My height is 5 feet, 3 inches.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
Weight loss surgery is not a part of my journey.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned during this journey is to stay consistent! Results will happen over time, not overnight. Work hard, stay consistent and be patient.
What advice do you have for people who want to lose weight?
Just start! Start with one or two realistic lifestyle changes that you can commit to every day. For example, substitute bacon with turkey bacon, order the small coffee instead of the large or replace one meal with a green smoothie. These changes are small yet significant enough to make a difference over time. The goal is to minimize the risk of resistance to change and accept new lifestyle habits.
