Transformation of the Day: Tiara lost 32 pounds and several dress sizes. Due to an inactive lifestyle and unhealthy eating habits, the pounds were slowly packing on. She was unhappy with how she looked and felt. With strength training, HIIT, and healthier eating habits, she has transformed her body composition and regained her confidence.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation for getting fit was to be a happier and healthy version of myself. I was eating and drinking anything I wanted. I wasn’t active at all, and I slowly packed on the pounds. I wasn’t happy with how I looked and felt, so I finally decided to change. I finally told myself that I have to put the work in if I want to change how I look.
What did you start your journey?
When I started this journey back in January 2019, I weighed 177 pounds. I currently weigh 145 pounds. I was a size 12, and now I’m a size 4. This transformation took me about one year, but honestly, I’m still transforming. My body is still changing, and I’m getting stronger every day.
How did you change your eating habits?
I slowly worked on my diet by limiting processed food and eating mostly whole foods. I also limited the amount of sugar I consumed, primarily by eliminating sugary drinks and desserts. I choose healthier versions of my favorite foods. Instead of eating fried foods, I grill and bake my food. Instead of sugary cocktails, I may opt for vodka and soda water with lime.
My diet mostly consists of protein, a vegetable, and a healthy carb for lunch and dinner. For breakfast, I eat eggs and turkey bacon or oatmeal. I try to keep my meals as simple as possible because it’s easier to track how many calories I’m consuming. If you’re making a complete lifestyle change, balance is key. No foods are off-limits to me. I still eat what I want, just in moderation.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
When I began my journey, I had no clue about what to do in the gym. I signed up for classes the gym offered to get myself started. Eventually, I hired a trainer to teach me how to properly strength train.
I do a mix of HIIT and strength training four times a week. This training has been a complete game-changer for me! My entire body composition has improved. I’m stronger and more confident than I’ve ever been.
What is your height?
My height is 5’3″.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I learned that discipline and consistency are key during any journey or transformation. You will not always feel like working out or eating right, but discipline will keep you on track. Consistency will get you the results you desire.
Just know that you will fall short (no one is perfect), but you have to pick yourself up and keep going! Ladies, don’t give up. Know that anything worth having is going to require work.
