Weight Loss Victory: Tia lost 35 pounds. With the support of her husband, who was also on a weight release journey, she focused on eating healthier and working out to change her lifestyle. She shared with us about what she did to lose the pounds.
Hi, my name is Tia and I am 41 years old. I am 5’10” tall and over the last 4 years I’ve lost 35 pounds.
This first photos is of me back in 2011 and it was the heaviest I’ve let myself reach. I am very tall, so saying that I was 20 lbs overweight is probably an understatement. I hated the way my clothes fit and I had zero energy. My husband is an amazing cook and I ate all the food that he made and then some. I never exercised and I really didn’t care to. My husband was also getting much bigger and when he had a doctor’s appointment the numbers off were the charts. We both decided that we needed to get healthy and fast.
He started looking at ingredients more closely when he was cooking at home and we also started working out. I fell in love with Zumba and the community of women who encouraged me to keep moving. I became a fanatic and started to see my true self again. Listen, it wasn’t easy and everyday I had to make choices that would keep me on track. I do at least 30 minutes of cardio everyday.
My best advice for anyone looking to lose weight is to start with your nutrition. Understand the impact of the foods you eat and how they can affect your progress while working towards your fitness goals. It’s the biggest challenge to overcome, but if you can balance good nutrition with your workouts you are well in your way to success!
I increased my protein and reduced my carbs. I maintain a daily allowance of no more than 100g of carbs per day. I have a love for pasta and that was the hardest thing to let go. I started to add grains, like quinoa, to my diet instead of rice and pasta.
Now, here we are today and I’m sharing my story because I care. It helps to have someone in your corner, pushing you toward your goals. All it takes is the desire to change and the courage to get started. This is my success story.
