Brain Health
Chia is an important source of the Omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 is considered the “good fat” and is important to healthy brain function as it is used to power the brains processing. Leading researcher, Wayne Coates, who first started studying Chia 29 years ago, has shown that Chia is more easily processed by the body than flax seeds. This means that more Omega-3 is converted for use into the plasma systems in the body and then accessed to support the brain’s metabolism.
Adding Chia seeds to your diet on a regular basis can provide you with numerous benefits. The important thing to remember is to increase your fluid intake when consuming Chia because of its fiber rich content. This will help the body to absorb and use the Chia more efficiently.

I use Chia seeds in my smoothies; however, sometimes I just eat them. I usually grind them with a coffee grinder but when my grinder went out I placed about a tablespoon of chia seeds in 3 tablespoons of water let it sit for a few minutes (they became very soft) put them in the blender with all my other ingridents. I was not aware of the health benefits-like with high blood pressure. I lost 10 pounds a was taken of of my medications I thought it was just that but now I am thinking it is a combination of the weight loss and the Chia seeds….
