Transformation of the Day: Tess lost 70 pounds. When the weight started affecting her health, she decided to make a change. She created her own plan that combined intermittent fasting, pescatarian meals, and liquid meals.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I was at a point where my weight was negatively affecting my health. I was depressed, and I kept seeing my family members struggle with cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, you name it. I was even close to the prediabetic range, so I decided that I would do my best to lose the weight to live a long and healthy life to honor the family members I lost. They inspire me every day to be the best version of myself.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started by reducing my portions and then created my own diet plan (the PLI method). It’s a plan that combines a pescatarian diet, a liquid diet, and intermittent fasting. I explain everything in detail in my YouTube videos.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
Surprisingly I didn’t have to work out. I went to the gym maybe one to two weeks last year and still managed to lose weight with my diet and intermittent fasting routine. I have started going back recently to tone up my body.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 242 pounds, and my current weight is 173 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’9″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey in May 2019, and I lost 30 pounds by August 2019. I then lost the additional 40 pounds by October 2020. So in total, it took about a year and a half to lose all 70 pounds.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, I did not have surgery, but I am not against the beautiful women who have decided to go forward with surgery as we all want to be happy with our bodies.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is that a certain number on the scale will never truly make me happy. My weight will always fluctuate, but as long as I learn to appreciate the progress I’ve made and use that as a motivator, I will continue to succeed.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Weight loss is a journey. Whether you love your body is up to you but change, just like love, takes time. Don’t expect overnight results, but also don’t give up. Listen to your body, most importantly. Many of us have failed more times than we can count, but what matters is that you continue to try and achieve your goals.
