Terra lost 28 pounds by focusing on nutrition. This mother of five put in the work to overcome food addiction and borderline hypertension. She also found the time to make fitness a top priority. Check out her story.
My name is Terra. I’m a wife and a mom of five amazing kids! I started my weight loss journey three years ago at 180 pounds. However, I didn’t see my best results until about three months ago, when I finally focused on nutrition.
I started paying attention to what I was putting in my body. Finally, I had to admit to myself that I had a food addiction. My food addiction led me to be diagnosed with borderline hypertension. I wasn’t going to take medication for the rest of my life, so I had to deal with my addiction. I conquered it, and I started my journey to a plant-based lifestyle.
What really inspired me to keep going was the transformation I saw in my body. I watched the clock turn back the hands of time. I kept going even when I dreaded going to the gym.
I go to the gym 5-6 times a week, and I count my macros. On the days that I’m not in the gym, I’ll do a 20 minute HIIT workout. Now I can’t sit still because I have so much energy.
I weigh 152 pounds now (height: 5’3″), and my journey isn’t over. I’m committed to getting better while basking in my growth.
The biggest lesson I learned is it’s okay to commit to others but make sure you’re committing to yourself!
The advice I would like to share is to heal from within. Accountability is a beautiful thing. Starting with yourself and addressing why you’re unhealthy in the first place (trauma, addiction, or an unhealthy relationship with food, etc.) I hope my story inspires other women.
