Teila lost 28 pounds. Treatment for thyroid disease at sixteen caused significant weight gain. Years later and several diets later, she was still on the weight loss rollercoaster. In 2020, she started researching what eating habits would help her release the weight, and she joined a gym.
What was your motivation?
I was diagnosed with a thyroid disease at the age of sixteen. I never recovered from the weight gain that the treatment caused me. After years of stopping and starting different diets, I would always lose and regain the same 10-15 pounds.
During the quarantine, I got to my highest weight of 265 pounds. I noticed that my knee would pop every time I walked, and this issue progressed. I knew if I didn’t stop carrying so much weight around, I would severely damage my knees. So I signed up for a gym membership. I also researched the foods that would benefit me in terms of my weight loss journey and my thyroid disorder. I enjoy working out a lot, and I’ve lost 28 lbs.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started eating clean and switched to a pescatarian lifestyle. It’s been four months of no ordering out, something that I used to do every other night.
What is your workout routine?
My workout consists of weight training and cardio 4-5 times a week.
What is your current weight?
My current weight is 236.8 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’6″.
When did you start your weight loss journey?
I started this journey in October 2020.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice, which is also the biggest lesson I’ve learned, is to create good sustainable habits that will set you up for success.
