Transformation of the Day: Tayra lost 31 pounds. She knew that the extra pounds were negatively impacting her health, so she worked with a nutritionist and a personal trainer to get results. Finding a non-restrictive yet healthy eating style that works for her was key. Check out her journey.

What was your motivation?
I was not happy with the weight I gained and had a negative impact on my health. I wanted to be happy with the reflection I saw in the mirror. I also wanted to be healthy for myself and my family.
What inspired you to start your weight loss journey?
I don’t think there was one thing that inspired me. I just wanted to ensure I had a better quality of life and that I am here for as long as my health will allow.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started making healthier choices. Following the plan Fitness on Fire gave me, I completely cut out bread and junk food (all the fun stuff). I stopped eating, pasta, sugary drinks, white potatoes, pork, fried foods, dairy (except for Greek yogurt), sugar, sweets, Cheetos, and Doritos (which I LOVE!!!!). I replaced all of those foods with healthier choices. I ate leaner cuts of meat, vegetables, fruit, and completely eliminated sugary drinks.
I have tried other programs in the past. I actually tried the Fitness on Fire Online Training Program in the past but had to stop due to forces beyond my control. After a while, I tried doing keto. However, diets that restrict what I can eat have never worked for me. I need to be able to control and choose the food I consume and eat a little bit of everything. Fitness on Fire allows me to make those choices. Yes, they are healthy choices, but I still control what I eat. It is important to follow whatever it is that works best for you, and this program allows me to have that freedom.
What did your workout consist of?
My workout consists of resistance training for 75 to 90 minutes, five days a week. This is the workout regimen recommended by my online trainer, “King of the Fire” from the Fitness on Fire. I am up very early in the morning, and I’m at the gym between 5:00 and 5:30 am. I had to work my way to that time of day. It was challenging, but now I love it. In fact, I do not like going to the gym later in the day. I get a big boost of energy from my work out and feel great the rest of the day.
How long did your transformation take?
It has taken about seven months to get to this point. I started seeing results about a month and a half into the program, and that really motivated me to keep going. I am motivated more and more each day because my results are very noticeable at this point, and I can’t wait to get to my goal. It makes it a lot easier for me to resist temptation and stick to my regiment. I am very focused.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Stay focused, and don’t give up. Losing weight is not easy, but it is certainly attainable. You will have days when you feel like giving up and eating whatever you want. You will have days when you DO NOT want to get up and go to the gym. Some days, you may give in to all those feelings, and that is fine. Just make sure you get right back on track, focus on your goal, and don’t give up. We are all human, and you will fall. However, it’s not about how many times you fall. It’s about how many times you get right back up, dust yourself off, and keep moving.
