Weight Loss Story of the Day: Tawanda lost 26 pounds and lots of inches in 60 days. She is happy about how the beginning of her weight loss journey is taking shape. She changed her eating habits and did the Insanity workout plan with her husband. This busy mom of 3 shared her journey with us and has some great advice to share.
This is a nerve-wracking and bold post for me, but here it goes! Exactly 60 days ago the hubby and I started eating better and doing the Insanity 60 day workouts. While I’m not at my goal weight I’m pleased to report that I’m down a total of 26 lbs and lots of inches in 60 days! I’ve still got a ways to go, but today I’m proud that I’m not where I was! #couplesworkout #startingover
After having 2 babies within 4 years (was on strict bed rest for vitg) while in my 40s I gained a ton of weight. I found it very difficult to find time for myself and to workout. After seeing myself in pictures and feeling very down about carrying the additional weight I decided that it was time for me to get myself in gear and lose the pounds. I wanted to be able to run around with my little girls without feeling out of breath after 5 minutes.
Since I’d heard that weight loss begins with what you eat I changed my eating habbits first. I started eating more fish and lean meat. I also started drinking meal replacement protein shakes. I cut out all white carbs and only had whole wheat products but I wouldn’t eat any of the carbs after 2pm. I made sure to eat my final meal before 7:30 pm. I started dropping pounds right away and that gave me my additional motivation to start working out.
As a busy mom it was difficult to get a workout in during the day so I waited until the girls went down for the night and I’d pop in the Insanity workout DVD and the hubby and I would work out together. I couldn’t do the workout on the level that they did it in the DVD so I would take it at my own pace.
The day that I had my 3rd daughter I weighed in at 207 pounds. Prior to that, the heaviest I’d ever been was when I had daughter number 2 and I weighed 172 pounds. Before baby number 2 & 3, I’d never weighed more than 140 pounds in my life. After initially changing my eating habits, I’d gotten down to 190lbs. Then, after completing the 60 day work out program, I lost an additional 24 lbs. At 5 “2” my ideal weight is 135 lbs, but really as long as I’m lean and healthy the number really doesn’t matter as much as it used too. This week I started my adventure into becoming a runner, so every morning I’m starting my day off with a power walk/jog until I build up my running endurance. I’ve also started back at day 1 of the Insanity 60 day workout program. Hopefully at the end of this 60 days I will have reached my goal of fitting into my fav pair of jeans!
My advice for other moms who want to lose their baby weight is for them to first become determined because it’s easy to get busy with the hubby and kids, forget about your self and quickly get discouraged. Secondly, since most of the time we are the ones cooking, be sure to make healthy versions of the food you make for the family. Then everyone is eating healthy and you don’t have to sit there eating lettuce while the rest of your family is eating something ekse. Thirdly, cut your portions. I’ve found that my portions were way to big. I also forget to eat when I’m busy with the kids, so I recommend a good meal replacement protein drink. Lastly, get moving with an accountability partner. Whether you start walking, take a Zumba class, do the Insanity workout, or any other program…just start. 10 minutes of jump rope a day is a great a total body workout to start with. If you have a bad eating day or you don’t work out, forgive yourself and start again the next day.
