Transformation of the Day: Tasha lost 112 pounds and has kept the weight off for more than a year. This proud mom was determined to lost 100 pounds by her 40th birthday. She changed her eating habits, prepped her meals and started by walking regularly. Check out what she shared with us about her lifestyle change.
My motivation? I knew that I would be turning 40 on September 10, 2013 and I was afraid of the myth that after 40 it was going to be much harder to lose weight. So, on my 39th birthday, I vowed to lose 100 pounds before my 40th birthday. My inspiration was my kiddos and how proud of me they’d be.
I changed my eating habits by not eating past 5pm and eating more veggies throughout the day. I gave up ice cream and sweets. I really loved snacks like those, but I gave all of that up. I also meal prep like crazy.
I began the exercise part of my journey by walking slowly, just to get in the habit of “moving”. The entire time, I worked out 5 days a week by walking briskly, until I was able to work my way up to a slow jog.
My starting weight was 286 pounds and my current weight is 174 pounds. My height is 5’2″. The transformation took exactly 24 months (2 years). During year one, I only lost 80 pounds, but did not give up. By the time I turned 41 years old, I’d lost more than the 100 pounds that I set out to lose.
The advice I have for others is “Don’t give up!” This is an accomplishment only you can achieve. The journey and the feeling of the journey cannot be shared or expressed. The victory is all yours. It comes from your own, personal hard work and choices. Again I say, “Don’t give up.” The time is going to go by either way. Why not make good use of it.
