Weight Loss Transformation of the Day: Tara lost 80 pounds, going from a size 18/20 to a size 6/8. Running has been the key to her transformation, as well as making healthier food choices. This petite diva is training for her first full marathon at the end of the year. Here is what she shared with us about losing the pounds…
My weight loss journey began years ago. I’ve always been a runner, but I wasn’t serious about it. In 2014, I stopped “play” running. I went from running 30 miles a month, to 60 and now 100 plus miles a month. I’ve gone from a size 18/20 to a 6/8, and from 230 pounds to 150 pounds (height: 5’3″).
I ran my first half marathon in April 2015, and currently training for my first full marathon on December 13th 2015. Through running, coupled with a serious diet change and cross training, I have built my endurance level. I used to run/walk a mile in 17 to 20 minutes, now I run a mile in 11 to 14 minutes, depending on how hot it is.
I had no health issues to motivate me at the start of this journey. I just woke up one morning and couldn’t take it no more. I was running, but not burning any fat. That’s why, I say I was play running and started had to start “running” running. Training for my marathon keeps my focused on staying fit.
I used to be addicted to hamburgers. I cut off eating my daily double bacon burger with extra bacon, first. I also stopped going to happy hour three times a week, and started eating salmon and turkey almost everyday. I added in more whole grains, more fresh fruit and drank plenty of water.
My advice to others: I encourage you to get started, don’t stop and keep on pushing. Get moving and you will feel better. Stay consistent, persistent and motivated.

Thanks for sharing this, Tara! While I have lost weight and am at a comfortable size, I know the challenges and hard work that we must continuously monitor to keep it off! I had no idea this site existed! I subscribed to it and hope that I can support those who are on a mission!
