What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up? Seven-plus years ago, my motivation was the negative talk about my weight. A friend of mine pointed out how I looked in my bathing suit. I appreciate her to this day for her honesty.
Now, my motivation is me! I strive to maintain a healthy lifestyle as long as God allows. I happen to suffer from asthma since childhood. When I was in my early 30s, it was a challenge to walk around my classroom. I refuse to allow myself to endure such tribulations anymore.
How did you change your eating habits?
Changing my diet helped me lose weight. Working out is just an added incentive. At 48 years old, I am very cognizant of what I intake. I practice intermittent fasting and no longer use salt when I cook. I no longer use sugar, pay attention to ingredients in packaged foods, and stay away from sodas, pasta, breads, sweets, and fast food.
I have tried Keto, but sticking to it is a challenge. So now I just make sure I eat healthy and am in a calorie deficit; this works for me!
What is your workout routine?
I work out 4-5 times a week. I do two days of 40-45 mins of cardio; treadmill, pool, elliptical, or Stairmaster. On the other two days, its upper body and legs.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I weighed almost 200 pounds in my early 30’s, and now I’m a solid 178 pounds.
What is your height?
I am 5’4”.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey ten years ago. I saw no difference for the first couple of years because I wasn’t eating right. Once I realized how my eating habits contributed to my not losing weight, I hired a personal trainer. It took five months for me to drop 20-25 pounds.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey
No. I lost weight without any pills or surgeries.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Losing weight is a mindset. If you’re not mentally prepared for the challenge, you will not be successful.
