Transformation of the Day: Tanya lost 51 pounds. When her new doctor told her that her weight was right at the line to be considered obese, it was the wakeup call she needed. She found the motivation to change her eating habits, seek out free challenges online to help motivate her and commit a new lifestyle. Check out her story.
I’m Tanya. My motivation started when I went to a doctors appointment with a new doctor on Jan. 4, 2016. The doctor was doing his thing and after looking over my information. He went to my weight at which time was 276.6 pounds. Then, he looked at me and said, “Tanya, everything is looking good, however your weight is not so good. You’re at the Obese line.” He didn’t say it with any malice or anything, he said it with concern and care in his eyes. That is the day it all started.
I changed my eating habits by eliminating soda, candy, chips, fast food, bread and pretty much all unhealthy items. I incorporated veggies, fish, grilled chicken and ground turkey into my diet. I also only drink water. I mean it! I went on a healthy binge. I found this site called The 30 day Green Smoothie Challenge and I followed the plan up. By Feb 16, 2016, I had lost 15 lbs. During that time I was also exercising on the treadmill, lifting weights, etc. After that, I found the 12 week Ideal Shape Up Challenge, which was 12 weeks of doing 6 days of 15-20 min workouts. I had lost more weight with this plan. I also incorporated my own workouts during the 12 weeks on the treadmill, doing squats, walking, etc.
As of today, I am down 51 pounds. My starting weight was 276.6 and my current weight is 225.6 pounds. It’s obvious that I’ve loss several inches as well. My height is 5’11”. No weight loss surgery was done. I just found my motivation on the day my doctor told me that I was obese and from that day on I have been working very hard to get to where I want to be. Blood sweat and tears.
I started what I call “Mylifestylechange2016” on Jan 4, 2016 and I’m not done yet. I’m continuing on this journey because my overall goal weight is 200lbs or 199lbs, which ever comes 1st. That will be the time that maintaining my weight loss comes into play.
My advice for others: Motivation is key. If you don’t have that motivation, you will most likely fail. Motivation is found within you, so you must find it to be successful at this hard journey.
