Transformation of the Day: Tanique lost 50+ pounds with healthy eating habits and consistent workouts. This young lady decided to change when she realized that she was covering herself up, even while living in Miami, because she was uncomfortable in her own skin. Check out her transformation story.
What was your motivation?
I’m 25 years old. When I started my journey, I weighed almost 300 poundsat 5’5”. My motivation really came from one of my college friends. She lost a lot of weight, and I was amazed by her success. However, not amazed enough to make the extra effort myself.
I never thought I was overweight, or that anything was ever wrong with me until I started noticing how much I covered myself up. I went to grad school in Miami in the summer and was still covering up. It was during that time that I noticed how uncomfortable I was in my own skin because of my weight.
What worked for you?
I tried various quick-fix workout plans and diets to no avail. What finally helped me shed some pounds?
- Adopting healthy, sustainable habits
- Fasting
- Getting outdoors
- Cooking for myself more
I started making trips to the gym a regular part of my week. I also woke up early to do cardio outside. Being committed and consistent as led me to my 50+ pound weight loss.
What advice would you share with other women who want to lose weight?
My advice to people on their fitness journey is just to take your time. Just because something works for me doesn’t mean it will work for you. Trust the process and know that there isn’t any secret to losing weight the healthy way. Drink lots of water. Eat lots of fruits and veggies. Exercise and be consistent.
