Tanica lost 50 pounds in 8 months. She wanted to be healthier for her children and for herself. She spoke with a dietitian, did her research on nutrition and began to exercise regularly. We celebrate her progress.
What was your motivation?
I wanted to look and feel better. I was very unhealthy and didn’t like what I was seeing when I looked in the mirror. My drive was to be a healthier me. To look and feel better was my inspiration. I also wanted to be healthier for my children. The way I was living was unhealthy and wasn’t conducive to a better lifestyle.
How did you change your eating habits?
I wasn’t eating too many vegetables before I started my journey, so I incorporated more veggies and drank lots and lots of water. I also started planning my meals and controlling my portion sizes better. (I was an overeater before.) I quit eating red meat and drinking soda all together. I ate chicken and fish to substitute for red meat. I didn’t use any specific plan. I talked to my dietitian and began researching healthy food options online using sites like www.myplate.com. I am pretty much maneuvering my through understanding nutrition.
What did your workout routines look like?
My workouts are mostly cardio and speed walking on a treadmill. I work out 5 days a week at my local Planet Fitness.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 238 pounds. My current weight is 189 pounds. My height is 5’4″.
How long did your transformation take?
I started on March 11, 2016, so it’s been 8 months.
