Transformation of the Day: Tamora lost 20 pounds in 2 months. Tired of feeling unmotivated and drained, she decided to do something for herself and make her needs and wants the top priority. She got the fitness and nutrition guidance she needed by working with an online training program.
Age: 42
Height: 5’7″
Starting Weight: 234.8 pounds
Current Weight: 214.7 pounds
Weight loss: 20.1lbs
What was your motivation?
My motivation to start the program was deciding to do something for myself, putting myself and my needs and wants first. As a mom and caregiver to my whole family, I was so used to caring for everyone else and taking the scraps for myself. It left me unmotivated, drained, and feeling not worthy.
After losing my grandmother, mom, and brother within three years, I was lost. I didn’t have the motivation to do anything for myself. I have since started to look at life a bit differently. Although I have plenty of not-so-good days, I had to do something for myself.
What inspired you to start your weight loss journey?
I was inspired to start this weight loss journey because I did not like looking at myself I’m the mirror. I also hated buying bigger-sized clothing. I saw what the Fitness on Fire program did for others and what it could do for me.
I would criticize myself in the worst ways and in front of my children. I knew that to be different; I had to do different. I was the one who allowed myself to get to where I was, so I was responsible for getting myself out of it.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits by following the guidance and structure given to me by my online nutritionist, “Nutritionistguru” of the Fitness on Fire Online Training Program.
While on the FOF program, I’ve stopped eating white rice, regular pasta, butter/fats, pork, beef, and sweet treats. No sodas or sweet drinks. I have instead started eating more fruits and vegetables, brown rice, red skin potatoes, seafood, and lean poultry. This change has also helped me not to be so tired after eating.
I am researching why certain foods are better and the health benefits, which encourages me to eat healthier. I know that calorie counting alone isn’t enough to keep me in check. I need to know how much protein I should hit daily, how much fat, sugars, and so forth. It is keeping me accountable for what I put into my body and has allowed me to tap into who I am outside of the girl with all the extra weight. I am reminded that I can do anything I set my mind to if I really want it.
Tell us about your workout routine.
Before the program, I did not consider myself a “gym person.” I hated going to the gym, actually. But, now I go to the gym 5-6 days a week, and I look forward to it.
I disliked the gym because I didn’t know how to use the equipment properly and what equipment I needed to use to gain the results I was looking for. But with the Fitness on Fire program, I followed the workout regimen given to me by my online trainer, “King of the Fire.” The routines were geared toward helping me achieve my fitness goals.
How long did your transformation take?
My first progress report took two months and four days to achieve. I lost 20 lbs in that time frame but looking at my before picture to my now picture, it seems like more. Honestly, seeing myself every day, I couldn’t see the progress. I often wondered if it was working for me and how long it would take.
I did notice that my clothes had more room, and I would see the difference when I was not in my work clothes (scrubs). However, when I got dressed for church, my daughter would say, “Mommy, you’re getting skinny.” I would then run to my bathroom mirror, lift up my clothes, and say, “You think so?”…again, not really seeing it.
Even though I couldn’t really see the change, I could feel it. At my starting weight, I felt bloated, full, and I noticed I was taking shorter breaths. Now I feel lighter and almost back to my usual self.
Just know I’m not done yet. This is just the first phase of my journey with Fitness on Fire Online Training. More updates to come.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
My advice to anyone wanting to start the FOF program is just do it. First, figure out what “your why” is. Why do you want to lose weight, get in shape and eat healthier? Are you doing it for yourself, for an occasion, to get back at someone?
Your why has to be for you, ultimately. It has to be so big or important that it will motivate and push you when you feel like cheating yourself, giving up, or slacking. If you have short-term goals like being able to wear a specific outfit or going on a trip or to an event, you will yield short-term success. This is a lifestyle for a lifetime. You deserve to be wowed by what you see in the mirror. You deserve to be the best you in all aspects.
I believe FOF is worked for me vs. other programs because it is not just getting me to my goals but teaching me along the way. I now have the tools to continue this journey well beyond the expiration date of the time that I signed up for.
