Transformation of the Day: Tammera lost 102 pounds and went from a size 26 to a size 14. High blood pressure, pre-diabetes and heart palpitations are just some of the medical issues she was faced with. She made practical changes, like eating healthier food and working out 4 days a week, to release the weight. Check out what she shared with us about her journey.
About three years ago, I weighed over 300 pounds. I hated the way I looked from the neck down. I was miserable and my health was at risk. I was dealing with high blood pressure, pre-diabetes, low energy, heart palpitations, high cholesterol, shortness of breath, knee pain and back pain. I was fed up! I decided that it was time to make a lifestyle change.
I lost 100 pounds in two years with healthy eating, cardio, weight training, adequate water intake and plenty of rest. I’ve gone from a size 26 to a SEXY size 14.
What was your motivation?
My motivation came after a doctor’s visit. Wy blood pressure was at a dangerous level and I was put on two different high blood pressure medication. My cholesterol was also high and I found out that I was pre-diabetic.
What kept you going during the tough times?
When I felt like giving up, I would look at the before pictures of me at over 300lbs.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed eating habits by keeping a journal of the healthy foods I liked most. I stopped eating pork and beef. I cut back on bread, pasta and sweets. I started eating a lot of veggies and salmon.
What did your workout routine look like?
I worked out Monday-Thursday for 30-40 minutes doing cardio and strength training.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 366 pounds and my current weight 264 pounds. I’m 5’5″.
When did you start your journey?
I started my journey in February2014
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that this is a LIFESTYLE and not a quick fix. Therefore, there will be ups and downs.
What advice do you have for other women who want to lose weight?
My advice for women on this journey is to take it one step at a time, one day at a time and one pound at a time.
