Update 2019: “On Jan 31st of this year, I celebrated four years of maintaining my 147 lbs weight loss. I’m still very active in the gym. I workout 5-7 times a week, and I stay on top of my nutrition. I plan out my meals daily. While maintenance hasn’t been easy, I’m just thankful and proud that I’m still going strong. My faith in God and being positive has surely taken me a long way. Weight loss nor maintenance is easy, but I’m proof that it’s possible. I can say I’m proud of how far I’ve come on this journey, and I’m continuing on.” – @halfmysize75
Tamiko recently celebrated 3 years of maintaining her success. She lost 144 pounds. Now, she’s coaching other people on their weight loss, health and fitness journeys.
Good morning! I wanted to provide an update on my journey. January 31, 2018 marked my 3rd year of maintenance. I’ve been maintaining my 142 pound weight loss and I’ve lost an additional 2 pounds for a total loss of 144 pounds. I still workout 5-7 times a week doing both cardio and strength training. Maintenance isn’t easy but I’m constantly changing things up and working smarter, not harder.
I recently became a vegetarian (about 6 months ago). Although it takes quite a bit of adjustment, I feel better and honestly think I should have done it years ago. I’ve been busy trying different vegetarian recipes and making sure my protein intake is sufficient.
I’ve also started a new career. February of 2017, I became a certified weight loss/health coach to help others achieve their weight loss goals and change their lives. After I lost the weight, health and fitness became my passion. I eat, sleep and live it, so I decided to become a coach. It’s so rewarding! I still have my weight loss focused Facebook page, but I’m on Instagram: @halfmysize75. I use my account to motivate and inspire others to change their lives.
Weight Loss Tip: You have to start to be great. It’s not the falling down that matters, but the getting up. If you error or make a mistake, start over and keep going. I’ve started over countless times, but I still managed to be successful. I just refuse to give up.
Maintenance Tip: Maintain the same motivation/determination that helped you get to your goal weight. Don’t become lax. You have to still exercise, monitor your weight regularly and check your eating habits. You may have to adjust things here and there. I still journal, weigh myself weekly and consistently switch things up when it comes to both food and exercise.
