Transformation of the Day: Tameshia lost 150 pounds. Her wake-up call came when she was diagnosed with diabetes. Her mother has diabetes, so she understood how challenging it could be. As a result, she decided to have Gastric Sleeve surgery, become health-conscious, and change her eating habits.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I was inspired to lose weight once my doctor informed me that I had become diabetic. My mother also has diabetes, and I see what she goes through. I didn’t want that for myself.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I had the Gastric Sleeve in 2018 and have lost 150 pounds so far… and still counting! Think I can do it? Follow along to see. Fingers crossed.
How did you change your eating habits?
As far as eating habits, I stopped overeating and stopped frying foods. I also added more fruit/veggies into my daily diet.
What did your workout routine consist of? How many days a week did you work out?
I work out every other day using ankle/arm weights and resistance bands. I’m also walking miles upon miles.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight is my business, and my goal weight is a secret. I’m not quite there yet but working hard daily for my goals. I’m trying to be my own body goals and no one else’s. (Follow along for an actual number… maybe one day?)
What is your height?
I am 5’8″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my weight loss journey in 2018 with VSG. I continue to eat healthy and be health-conscious. This will be an uphill lifetime journey for me.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I learned is that most people are usually projecting when it comes to talking about weight loss. I learned to listen to myself because I’m the one who has to look at myself in the mirror every day. Do what makes YOU happy.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
The only piece of advice I can give is to be healthy for yourself and focus on the life you want to live.
Don’t do it for anyone else. Most other people forget about you once they get home, so focus on you and what moves you.
