Weight Loss Journey: Tamara lost 62 pounds. This mom of two realized that she was closer to 300 lbs than she was comfortable with. She used past lessons she’d learned about portion control and discipline to beat depression and release the pounds.
From 282 pounds to 215 pounds. I have two amazing kids. I got pregnant with a third child and the pregnancy ended in miscarriage. The miscarriage sent me into a major depression and finding out how much I weighed at the time really did something to me. It made me get up and change my LIFE!
What was your motivation?
I literally hated my body. I had never imagined that I would weigh almost 300 pounds. I did not want to get any closer to that number. The BWLW page was also a major part of my motivation.
How did you change your eating habits?
Years ago, I did Weight Watchers. From that experience, I remembered that weight loss was really about portion control. It was ALL about discipline and knowing when enough was enough. Eating healthy is where discipline truly came into play. I honestly ate what I wanted (sorta). I loved sweet treats, so if cake was being served at a birthday party, I would taste it to kill the craving… but it was literally a taste. I did things like drinking a glass of water before I ate, a glass while I ate and, if i wasn’t satisfied, another glass afterward.
What did your workout routines look like?
No workout plan. I simply moved more. I did things like cleaning the house to music, parking at the end of the parking lot or walking occasionally… and the best workout of all…sex! (truth) I would do some kind of activity 3 to 4 times a week.
What is your height?
5’8″
How long did your transformation take?
1 year. I’m still going slowly to tone.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
You have got to have a well made up mind! If you change the way you see food and gain discipline, it can be done.
