Transformation of the Day: Tamara lost 55 pounds. As the weight began to negatively impact her both mentally and physically, this mother of four decided to take action to ensure her health. She embraced intermittent fasting and found a workout routine that works for her. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I was 34 years old, and I had health issues. The weight was affecting me mentally and physically. I remember seeing a picture of myself, and I knew it was time to change, not just for me but for my four children.
How did you change your eating habits?
I researched intermittent fasting. I didn’t/haven’t cut out any foods. I eat one big meal each day and drink plenty of water—everything in moderation. I fast daily from 8 pm-11 am.
What is your workout routine?
I walk 1/2-1 mile on the treadmill (currently 7 incline/4 speed). I challenge myself to walk a 1/2 mile in under 10 min. I bike 2 miles at an eight resistance for 8-10 minutes. I weight train daily as well. Leg presses & kettlebells are my favorite!!!!
How often did you work out?
I go to the gym 5-6 days a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I started at 315 pounds. I’m now between 260 and 265 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’9
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started fasting in April but didn’t start going to the gym until May. That’s when I got serious.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, I didn’t have surgery, although surgery was my first option.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I realized that I have to make time for myself. Also, quitting is not an option.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight? Start small. Thirty minutes a day is all it takes to start. Even when you don’t feel like it, DO IT ANYWAY!! Also, don’t see it as working out….IT’S A LIFESTYLE CHANGE.
