Transformation of the Day: Takee lost 96 pounds. This mom of two wanted to live a more active life and stop using her weight as an excuse. She opted to have gastric sleeve surgery and switched to low carb, high protein meals. Check out her experience.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was my kids. They are 5 and 8 years old. They always asked me to run with them and do outside activities, but I used my weight as an excuse not to.
When did you start your journey?
I started in February 2017. I had Vertical Gastric Sleeve weight loss surgery on September 14, 2017.
How did you change your eating habits?
Prior to weight loss surgery, I gave up soda and drank only water. After surgery, it was all about high protein, low carb foods. In the morning, I start off with a baked egg. I bake my breakfast every Sunday. (8 eggs with turkey sausage, green peppers and cheese). For a snack, I eat Greek yogurt and string cheese. For lunch, I eat salmon with a side salad. Usually, I eat baked chicken with a vegetable for dinner. I stay away from bread and pasta. I also take my vitamins daily.
What did your workout routine look like?
My workout routine is still inconsistent. I shoot for 3 days a week of cardio, including Zumba once a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I weighed 283 pounds on February 3rd, 2017. My current weight is 187 pounds and my height is 5’4″. I started noticing the difference after I lost 50 pounds.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I have to eat to live.
What advice do you have for other people who want to lose weight?
