Transformation of the Day: Takasia lost 70 pounds. This mom refused to let depression and an unhealthy lifestyle stop her. By faith, she took control of her mind, transitioned to a Pescatarian style of eating and put in lots of time in the gym. Check out her journey.
When did you start your weight loss journey?
I started my journey in April 2017.
Starting weight/Current weight
In the beginning, I weighed 290 pounds at 5’6″. Today, I weigh 220 pounds.
What was your motivation? What kept you going even when you wanted to give up?
I was depressed and having thoughts about death. I knew that being overweight might hinder me from seeing my kids graduate from college if I didn’t change my lifestyle and put an end to my unhealthy habits.
I gained weight, and I lost weight at the beginning of my journey. It took me a while to control my mind. After praying day and night, God finally gave me the strength to control my mind. Then, I was able to control my body. My kids are the reason that I kept going when I wanted to give up. I knew that my health had to be in order so that I could take care of them.
How did you change your eating habits?
Growing up, I never really was a meat eater. I started off juicing and fell in love with it. I saw a change in my ways and my skin. I finally made the decision not to eat red meat or chicken. I transitioned into being a Pescatarian, and I have been eating that was for 6 months now! As a Pescatarian, I only eat seafood, and I love it! I also meal prep and have 3 meals/3 snacks a day. My favorite vegetarian dish is tofu and broccoli with jasmine rice.
What did you do in terms of exercise?
I go to the gym 6 times a week for resistance training, weight lifting and cardio. I also take cycling, Zumba and boot camp.
What was the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
My biggest lesson is how not to fear and how to always try new things.
What advice would you share with other people who want to lose weight?
Don’t rush the process. It takes time. Also, always put God first, no matter what. Pray for strength and start your day with prayer. God will walk with you on your weight loss journey. Always be encouraged and never feel discouraged.

WOW! I love your testimony and am so thankful that you put God first in your journey. You are 100% right when you said I had to ask God to help me to get control of my mind then I got control over my body! Amen Sister!
