What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I was newly divorced and in a severe state of depression. I knew I had to make a severe life change, or my mental and physical health would be threatened.
What keeps me inspired is knowing that I can conquer any challenges by staying consistent.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started with intermittent fasting. I also reduced my intake of bad carbs, increased water to the daily recommended amount, started a vitamin regimen, and used portion control.
What is your workout routine?
I was terrified to work out. Since I was newly single, I decided to use working out as a place to meet new people. I tried at least seven new things; weekly beach yoga, weekly boxing workouts, water Zumba, pole fitness, dancing, exploring my neighborhood, and outdoor workouts.
How often did you work out?
I worked out at least three times a week on a slow week and up to 5 times a week on beast mode.
What was your starting weight?
320 pounds
What is your current weight?
258 pounds – In my before and now photos, I’m wearing the same dress.
What is your height?
5’5″
When did you start your journey?
I started in July 2022.
How long did your transformation take?
It took six months.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No surgery
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Give yourself grace, and don’t watch the scale. Small daily changes will lead to major wins as long as you stay consistent and do not get defeated if you don’t see results immediately.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
It’s not a sprint! Good things take time. Find workouts you love to do and make them fun. Even if it’s dancing while doing dishes, it’s movement.
We often think we have to be grand and set high expectations. Just try! Trying leads to doing as long as you don’t get discouraged.
