Transformation of the Day: Stephanie lost 67 pounds and her story should give hope to women who are still dealing with lingering baby weight. This Alpha Kappa Alpha soror gained 60 lbs during her pregnancy and found out that she needed high blood pressure meds after the baby was born. Now, 16 months postpartum, she’s dropped the 60 lbs she gained plus 7 more. Here is what she did to transform her body and her health…
Maintaining a healthy weight has never been easy for me. After my second son was born, I was at my heaviest and had gained over 60 pounds, weighing 220 pounds. I was looking forward to losing weight and getting healthy so that I could feel like myself again. After the birth of my son, I was not only overweight, but I also had high blood pressure. I started taking blood pressure medicine at 33 years old.
After 9 months, I was disappointed to find that I only lost 15 pounds. I always heard it takes 9 months to gain so it will take 9 months to lose, but I hadn’t made much progress. So on January 5th, I decided to really watch what I ate and commit to working out. I did the green smoothie cleanse for 10 days and then did at least one smoothie a day with healthy meals. By my son’s 1st birthday (3 months and 12 days later) I was down an additional 25 pounds. I was finally making progress and could fit in my pre-pregnancy clothes. Now, I’m 16 months postpartum and I am down 67 pounds.
What inspired you?
Getting healthy, and getting my blood pressure back normal. My inspired was my husband and kids.
How did you change your eating habits?
I did the 10 Day Green Smoothie Cleanse and then started eating clean;
- drinking water and detoxing
- stopped eating white carbs
- stayed away from processed food
What did your workout routines look like?
Running and strength training, 4-5 days a week
What was your starting weight? 220 pounds
What is your current weight? 153 pounds
Height: 5’7″
How long did your transformation take?
My son was born April 17, 2014 and I didn’t get serious about weight loss until January 5th, 2015. I reached my goal weight of 160 pounds on July 10th (almost 15 months post-partum at that time).
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Take it one day a time and set small weight loss goals instead of focusing on your whole weight loss goal. If you get off track, start over and keep going

You look amazing! Any tips on losing the mummy tummy? My babe is nearly two and it’s a struggle to get it down.

I am currently doing something similar to her. My story though is about the same. At 9 months postpartum I had enough and got serious. My success story to follow.
