Transformation of the Day: Stacie lost 102 pounds with VSG surgery, healthier eating habits, and exercise. She has gotten off prescription medications and no longer has constant headaches or heart palpitations. This 40-year-old mother of five is determined to thrive and achieve her life goals.
What was your motivation?
My motivation is my children (4 boys, ages 23, 14, 12, 10, and my 20-year-old stepdaughter), my husband of 13 years, and all of the goals and plans I have for my life. I turned 40 years old in November 2020, and I want this next phase of my life to be limitless.
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
What inspires me to keep going is how good I feel, how much lighter I am, and how much I can do for longer periods of time. I no longer have to take prescription medication. I no longer have constant headaches or heart palpitations. My whole attitude has changed, and my outlook is different.
When did you start your journey?
I had VSG weight loss surgery on July 6, 2020 [Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy]. I for as long as I can remember, I have been on a weight loss journey. This is the first time that my efforts actually stuck and worked.
How did you change your eating habits?
I eat three meals and 1-2 snacks daily. I also incorporate a little bit of intermittent fasting. I cut my eating off by about 7 pm daily to give my body a chance to recuperate from everything I did and took in during the day. I also drink at least 1.5L of water daily.
I try to focus on healthy protein, green veggies, and eating things from the earth more than anything (beans, lentils, fruit, veggies, etc.)
What did your workout routine consist of?
I work in Downtown Houston, Texas and near my building is a Bayou trail. I use my daily 1-hour lunch break to walk, jog, run stairs, do strength training exercises, etc. I also try and hit the gym at least three days a week after work and on the weekend. I can’t wait to get into some serious strength training and begin to build some muscle.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My highest weight ever was 291 pounds. Before VSG surgery, I lost 10lbs, getting down to 281 pounds. My current weight is 189 pounds. I have about 29 pounds I need to lose to get to my goal of 160 pounds.
What is your height?
My height is 5’6.5″.
How long did your transformation take?
I began seeing results about 1-2 months in. I hit Onderland at about six months post-op. I reached 100 pounds down from my highest weight mark at about seven months post-op.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I’ve learned that self-care is not an option. It is a MUST! I’ve learned to really take care of myself because I’m the only me I’ll ever get. By doing so, I have been able to truly take care of and love everyone else around me so much more.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Get started, and DO NOT STOP!!! Find what works for you and see it through to the end. Push through the frustration, the stalls, the hard work, the tears, the pain, and watch the results shine like a diamond! Trust the process!
