Transformation of the Day: Sherrie lost 85 pounds. Our sista from St. Lucia shared with us how she not only transformed physically but also went on a self-love journey. Committing to using portion control and working out five days a week are two keys to her success.
I am Sherrie, and I’m from the beautiful sunshine island of St. Lucia. I have lost 85+ pounds over the last two years (50lbs in 2020 and 40lbs in 2021). At the height of 5’4″, I started my journey at 245 pounds, and I currently weigh 160 pounds.
What was your motivation?
I always envisioned myself attaining my dream body, but I was driven to reach this goal after giving birth to my daughter via C-section.
My desire to feel like myself again was my biggest motivation. I wanted to do more than just be comfortable in my skin; I wanted to be IN LOVE with myself in my skin! This was the ultimate game-changer in my journey.
How did you change your eating habits?
My eating habits were solely reliant on portion control. I avoided crash dieting because it never worked for me previously. However, I did reduce my bread, flour, and sugar intake to a minimum. I also increased my water intake to at least three liters a day and drank hot teas such as green tea daily.
What did your workout routine consist of? How many days a week did you work out?
I worked out at least five days a week for half an hour using a treadmill and doing bodyweight exercises.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I achieved these body goals naturally. No surgery was used to accomplish this, only patience and consistency.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The greatest lesson I have learned so far is that dedicating time to taking care of me has opened the doors to empowering me as an individual. This deliberate act of self-love (that only I could do for myself) strengthened my relationship with myself and others around me.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
To all the amazing women out there, I say Do this FOR YOU! Make that time FOR YOU! Fall in love WITH YOU!
