Transformation of the Day: Shereen lost 102 pounds with healthy food and exercise. We’ve followed her inspiring journey since 2018. Consistent workouts and learning to love moving her body led to her teaching fitness classes five days a week.
At the beginning of my journey, I started working out 5-6 days a week in the gym. As a result, I developed great consistency with my workouts and learned to love moving my body.
Due to the pandemic, I began working out at home and teaching online fitness classes five days a week. I work out with my clients every Monday-Friday on Zoom, right from my house! I’ve developed a great program that includes live and on-demand workouts. We do cardio, weight training, resistance band training, and body weight training. Starting my own fitness business really helped me stay consistent with exercising daily.
How often do you work out?
I work out 5-6 days a week.
What was your starting weight?
312 pounds
What is your current weight?
210 pounds
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
My journey began in December 2017. My transformation is ever-evolving, but I lost the bulk of my weight in a little over a year.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I learned is there are no quick fixes. You have to commit to a lifestyle change and take the journey one day at a time.
I learned to stop comparing myself to others and focus on staying consistent. I realized that I wouldn’t always feel like working out or eating right. I also learned the journey is not easy, but it’s so worth the effort.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
The best advice I can give is for each woman to find the best way to change their diet to one that serves their weight loss goals (one that she can sustain for the rest of her life).
Look to people on social media as motivation or proof that it can be done. But, don’t compare yourself to other people. You are an individual. You have to believe in yourself.
Take your time and lose the weight. Also, if you need help, seek a coach who can guide you.
